Welcome to the Scanning Probe Microscopy and Materials for Quantum Technology (SPMQT) Lab at the University of Queensland!

We use scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) to characterize and manipulate single atoms, molecules, 2D materials, and nanostructures on surfaces.

We apply these techniques to problems where atomic structure matters, from quantum devices and nanoscale magnetism to the chemical transformation of molecules.
